Lost - May 2 - The Brig

Didn't Locke once say "The Island demands a sacrifice?" Well, a sacrifice was made tonight.

And it's not the death I was hoping for but rather the death that was due.

And what a death scene it was.

In the end, it was Locke's father who died. Or was killed. By Sawyer. And Locke's father was also the man that conned Sawyers mother, who was murdered by her husband who then killed himself. He went by the name Sawyer, which James Ford took on as his own. On one hand this connection seemed rather forced, but it did fit in well with Sawyer's story. (I wonder if that was planned from the beginning, or something they just made up this year?)

The best part of it was the note. At the beginning of season one we saw Sawyer sitting on a log reading it and he wouldn't tell anyone what it was. It just happened to be the note he wrote to the man who destroyed his family. The same man that ruined Locke's life.

And now he's dead. Locke and Sawyer can move forward now. (The question is, will they?)

It was fun seeing the Black Rock again. (And what does Rousseau need with the dynamite?)

Some general comments/observations/questions I made while watching:

Is Kate still using Sawyer to get 'even' with Jack?

Ben said that they didn't bring Locke's dad there, that he did. But Dad told us he was taken. For a while I thought that Dad wasn't 'real.' Like Kate's horse or Jack's dad or Hurley's frind Dave, Locke's dad was just a figment of his imagination. One that could hurt you. But not really... real.

Does Locke have a greater connection to the island? His presence helped heal Ben just by his being near him. And what can the island do?

Next week we may get some answers. It's Ben's flashback episode, and since he was born on the island (I believe he said that) he may know a thing or two about it. (Or rather, the initiative, and perhaps not on the inner workings of the island itself.

Next weeks episode is called "The Man Behind the Curtain" and the episode description reads:

Ben begrudgingly introduces Locke to the island's secrets, including mysterious Jacob; Juliet's secret goes public.

And Roger Workman returns!
