Where, oh Where, Are you, my Vista?

Does anyone really think that Microsoft will really release it's new operating system, named Vista? Just found this link saying that 60% of Vista is to be re-coded, as well as restructuring the Windows department.

Hasn't Windows XP been out for 5years? (Wasn't it in 2001 that Microsoft released it?) Five years to make improvements and fix security holes. Five years. With a staff of well paid experts (I'm assuming) to do this fantastic new version.

Five years.

Sure we got those security packs. That initially wrecked havoc on people's computers. But nothing new.

In the same time, Apple launched OS X. The first version was a bit buggy and slow, but they then came out with the next version. (Of course, they charged an arm and a leg.) Then another version, then another. All building on what was started in 2001.

Then Apple went and changed the innards of their machines to use Intel chips. And things still work. (Or so I've heard.)

But Microsoft can't launch their new operating system until after Christmas.

Perhaps instead of MS Vista it should simple be called MS Maybe.

While Apple was making "Tiger" OS, MS was making what was then called "LongHorn" now Vista. Apple enthusiasts had a great time with the Longhorn name, a big ponderous cowsmiley

Today Apple announced the beta download giving users the ability to load Windows XP on an Intel MAC along with the Apple OS. Soon, most likely before Vista ever appears, Apple will release Leopard with partition included for Windows if the users wants it.

WOW! JFI, not wanting to start an OS war!
