Black Donnellys - March 12 - The World Will Break Your Heart
After watching Mondays episodes, I've discovered a Truth.
1. NBC will do anything to make sure a series fails.
Did you know that there's another episode of this show on the internet? I believe it's called "God is a Comedian." This is important because Monday's episode was the fourth in the series, but the third one aired. And the one on the internet is part of the series (not like the Battlestar Galactica ones which were basically just ad-ons.
That means bits of plot or character development are missing. Unless you know the secret handshake. I'm not sure if NBC announced this fact during the airing of the show. But I'd wager to say that most people don't watch tv on their computer. So potentially millions of us are missing out on.... something.
Now I do like the concept of shows on the internet. With the nudity and cursing you can do there, it's like a big "fuck you" to the FCC. But we're not at the point where people will watch show on their monitors. Not yet, at least.
Another aspect to NBC's making this show fail is that they put it against CSI:Miami, one of the most watched regular series on tv. I'm not sure what can go up against Miami, but I have a feeling this show can't survive it.
As for this episode, I'm confused. Way too many characters just popping up. I feel like I need a scorecard to keep track of every one. Or maybe a Donnelly trading card set. Something.
You got the Irish and the Italians. (You can tell the Italians because they have dark brown or black hair. Take a look.) And they just show up. Sometimes with axes. Now I don't expect to be spoon fed or hand-held, but I expect some kind of consistency here. It's like they're just throwing everyone into a mixing bowl and seeing who comes out.
This show had potential. Maybe it can keep its audience. Maybe.
