Heroes April 30 - Five Years Gone (and Time Travel)
I'm not the biggest Heroes fan. In fact, I've only seen the last few episodes. But I did catch tonights episode set 5 years in the future. In it Hiro and Ando meet the future Hiro after the bomb (Sylar?) went off in New York City.
Now, maybe I watch too much science fiction, and maybe I'm too much of a Dr. Who fan, or perhaps I've seen too many Stargate episodes, but what happened (traveling to the future as Hiro and Ando did) shouldn't/couldn't have the same results as the episode showed.
You see, what Hiro and Ando experienced was an alternate future. It couldn't have been the 'real' future.
Why? Because Hiro was in the future.
(I'm not sure if Hiro's powers were explained. If they were, then disregard this rant.)
Time Travel 101: If a time-traveler was to leave his current time and jump ahead into another time, he couldn't meet himself, since he wouldn't have been around during the time that he missed.
Right now, if I was to jump ahead in time to, say, tomorrow morning around breakfast, I couldn't find myself eating my bowl of cereal. I wouldn't have been there. But apparently Hiro can. That just doesn't work for me.
However, traveling to the past to meet yourself would be possible, but too unpredictable. You'd probably just end up erasing your future you, witch would be your current you.
I think I need an aspirin....

Well if I went into the future I'd want to go back to when a left. Say I left at 13:00:00 I'd want to come back at 13:00:01. However I probably would have aged even though only second past in real time. In alive time more then one second would have past.
So I should see my self eating the bowl of ceral cause I would be there

so you're eating cereal at one in the afternoon?
Yes, the entire time you've been gone, you'd age that much when you return. If you're gone for 20 years, you'd be that much older and have a lot of explaining to do when you get your driver's license renewed!
But you can't see yourself eating after you've left. You (your body/physical being) will be in the future. If you could travel back in time, you could presumably see yourself, but you can't see yourself in the future because your body would have physically been removed from your current position in space/time.
Unless you're in a parallel universe.
(I'm currently watching the second series of the current Dr. Who series so I've been thinking a bit on time travel. It's like Rose can't see herself visiting the 2012 Olympics with her mum because she's been removed from her space/time. Until, of course, she ever makes it back home. And no series 3 spoilers for me!!!)

I'm sure you understand...
I'm sure you know that comment spam is a huge problem. And I don't use that stupid no-follow thing google has. So when Akismet marks a post as spam, it sends off a red flag in my mind. And I do get a comments from other SEO blogs so, yes, I do consider them spam.
In a perfect world I wouldn't have to go through these measures, and in a perfect world Akismet wouldn't be necessary. Then we have the fine line between real posters and spam, and it does get blurry. And you're business is in the blurry part.

Confused LOL
Somehow you can never change the future because you have to look at it this way... If you happen to travel to there and amend all sorts of things, you will still come back to the way it was, like you intended, right??? get it?? Ok, now pass me an aspirin as well

linear time
If you're referring to linear time, then it might be feasible that you won't be sitting in the kitchen eating breakfast. However, the future is not necessarily the future if you are talking about a matrix or dimensions.

Heroes - simply amazing serial. Perhaps best that I could see in the life. A fantasy - my favourite genre. Thanks for article!
