emmy2008 - Writing and Directing Drama & Comedy

The writing and directing - just as important as the acting. (Or more so, some may say. Some like writers and directors.)

Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series

The Nominees are...
  • Battlestar Galactica (Six Of One)
  • Damages (Pilot)
  • Mad Men (Smoke Gets In Your Eyes (Pilot))
  • Mad Men (The Wheel)
  • The Wire (30)

Any chance I get to support Battlestar Galactica, I will! (And I really do want to see Mad Men and Damages, and I've heard a lot of good things about the Wire.)

Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series

The Nominees are...
  • Boston Legal (The Mighty Rogues)
  • Breaking Bad (Pilot)
  • Damages (Pilot)
  • House (House's Head)
  • Mad Men (Smoke Gets In Your Eyes (Pilot))

House's Head, together with "Wilson's Heart" made two of the best episodes of House. Ever. Hopefully it can overcome the Boston Legal effect and that Mad Men doesn't go for a sweep of the awards.

Outstanding Writing For A Comedy Series

The Nominees are...
  • 30 Rock (Rosemary's Baby)
  • 30 Rock (Cooter)
  • Flight Of The Conchords (Yoko)
  • Pushing Daisies (Pie-Lette)
  • The Office (Dinner Party)

Pushing Daisies is magical, and it could probably use some magic to win above 30 Rock. But I'm standing by Pushing Daisies even though its more skewed to the odd than 30 Rock. And that's saying something.

Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series

The Nominees are...
  • 30 Rock (Rosemary's Baby)
  • Entourage (No Cannes Do)
  • Flight Of The Conchords (Sally Returns)
  • Pushing Daisies (Pie-Lette)
  • The Office (Money (Parts 1 & 2))
  • The Office (Goodbye, Toby)

They direct "The Office"? Really? Again, Pushing Daisies for me.
