Personally, I hope it's David Rossi. I like that character - who is strikingly different than Gideon was - but I can't stand Joe Mantegna's acting on the show. Everything about him is 'off' - especially his line readings.
As a rule, a TV show about FBI agents that track down serial killers is going to be grim. And the True Night episode, about the comic book artist, was indeed grim and bloody. But what set this Criminal Minds episode apart from other episodes was that it didn't follow the same (and arguably predictable) format of other episodes. Instead of following the agents, it focused on the unsub instead. Which could have been a good thing.
